The class consists of a ballet warm up, improvisation and choreographic movements from the company repertory. The technical basis of this class develops fluid movement with classic lines and loose limbs while structured improvisational moments develop a deeper connection to one’s body in new, more authentic ways. The repertory aims to give insight into the company’s choreographic process of Dedicated, a work that questions archetypes, gender, and challenges cultural paradigms. This work is characterized by the combination of ballet, release technique, physical awareness, theatre and theoretical reflection that allows the students to deepen the physicality of emotional and sensation-based material. The overarching goal is to use the repertory as a platform to hone technique while also developing a personal movement language that speaks to personally relevant subject matter resulting in a new variation of the repertory.
