ShaLeigh Dance Work’s Dedicated to [ ] because of [ ] (and vice versa) was created in 2007.  The result of a collaborative process between choreographer ShaLeigh Comerford, actor/playwright Richard Kirkwood, and the original performers, the dance is a complex dance theatre work that “explores the deeply personal and cultural landscape of gender and violence.”

In this interview, that includes excerpts from the dance itself, choreographer ShaLeigh Comerford and Actor Richard Kirkwood sit down and discuss the creation and development of the work at the 2007 American Dance Guild Performance Festival.  :

ShaLeigh will be teaching a special FREE master class/workshop at Arts Together on Saturday, September 14 from 2-3:30pm.  She has developed a workshop specifically for the NCDF tour and related to this dance.  Read more about the class and find out how to sign up here.
