Jessi Knight Walker is a dancer, teacher and choreographer from Pittsboro, N.C.  As an undergraduate at Duke University, she pursued a self-designed dance degree with an emphasis in music and education. After graduation, Jessi embarked on a teaching and choreographing career that afforded her the opportunity to teach, choreograph and perform both locally and nationally. She spent four years in Denver, Colorado as a member of the internationally acclaimed Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Ensemble. She currently resides in North Carolina where, in addition to choreographing for her company knightworks dance theater, she is teaching modern dance at Duke University.

Jessi’s solo, I Mind, is an excerpt from the evening-length work Eurydice Descended wherein Eurydice awakens to an unfamiliar space and begins anew on a journey through love, loss and unspeakable beauty. Set somewhere between present-day Brooklyn and the City of the Dead, I Mind re-imagines the afterlife as a space of revelation, forgiveness and unexpected grace.

Tune in Wednesday September 18 for an exclusive Soundcloud clip about Jessi’s choreographic process and inspiration for her solo work!
