ADF and NCDF Collaborate in Celebrating NC Dance
November 12, 2013 § 2 Comments
Submissions are now being requested for the 2014-15 NC Dance Festival and the 2014 American Dance Festival performances!
The NC Dance Festival (NCDF) and the American Dance Festival (ADF) will collaborate again this summer to co-present a performance of NC choreographers during the 2014 ADF season.
North Carolina dance artists may apply to performance as part of ADF or NCDF or both. A panel of nationally recognized choreographers will review dance works submitted for the ADF performances. Artists selected to present at ADF will be offered a spot on the NCDF statewide tour, with additional NCDF touring artists chosen by NCDF adjudicators.
The American Dance Festival performances will be held in Durham, NC on June 18, 2014 in the Reynolds Industries Theater on the Duke University campus.
The NC Dance Festival travels to five communities within the state and participating artists are expected to perform the same work at all sites. Touring artists are also asked to take part in Festival outreach programs, which involves teaching classes or performing in mini-concerts in a variety of settings in association with concert weekends. Additional pay is involved for these programs.
Submissions are due January 1, 2014 (received no later than Jan 2, since Jan 1 is a holiday).
Dances must be a maximum of 15 minutes long, and must be complete (no works-in-progress).
Choreographers selected for the ADF and/or NCDF performances are expected to obtain all necessary copyright permissions for music and text.
Choreographers enrolled in degree granting programs are not eligible to apply.
In general, artists and companies are not eligible to tour with the NCDF two years in a row. Due to this special co-presentation with ADF, however, 2013-14 Touring Artists may submit work to be considered.
