Want to have a say about which dances you see at the NC Dance Festival? Let your voice be heard by attending the Audience Choice Show! Choreographers Paulina Bracone, Elissa Edwards, and Kayla Mason will present work, and then answer questions from the audience. Viewers will rate each dance on the strength of the choreography and the overall appeal of the dance, and the Audience Favorite will go on to perform in November 2013 with the NC Dance Festival!
In early January, we’ll be introducing these three choreographers here on the blog. Don’t miss it!
Meet Paulina Bracone.
Meet Kayla Mason.
Meet Elissa Edwards.
So, what is “Bonus Day,” anyway?
Bonus Day is an extra day of the North Carolina Dance Festival activities in Greensboro. We offer master classes, various professional development opportunities for dance artists in the area, and now, the Audience Choice Show, in which emerging choreographers can present their work for a chance to be included in the 2014 NC Dance Festival Greensboro mainstage performance in Aycock Auditorium!
How the Audience Choice Show works:
1. Eligible emerging choreographers submit their dances to the Dance Project by October 1, 2013. (For eligibility and submission instructions, visit our website.)
2. A group of Dance Project staff and board members select 3-6 choreographers to present their work in an informal setting during Bonus Day.
3. After the performance, a moderated talk-back session will be held with the audiences and artists, and audiences will rate each dance on several variables, including originality, development, effective choices, and overall interest.
4. The dance with the highest score will be presented during the NC Dance Festival mainstage performance in Aycock Auditorium, Greensboro, in November 2014!
